VIECC Vienna Comic Con 2018 – Press Release

The red carpet for the VIECC Vienna Comic Con is growing longer and longer as star actors, comic legends and professional cosplayers make their way to Vienna.

While the countdown for the upcoming VIECC Vienna Comic Con in Vienna on 17 and 18 November is inexorably running, the guest list is getting longer and longer. Famous actors, cosplay stars as well as the new program are promising a very exciting weekend.

Visit from Gondor

Denethor II was the twenty-sixth and last Ruling Steward of Gondor. He is the father of Boromir and Faramir and must protect the mighty city of Minas Tirith from Sauron’s armies. With this role in the Lord of the Rings trilogy, the then 40-year-old John Noble won the hearts of his fans and made his Hollywood breakthrough. The Australian actor also took on the role of the eccentric scientist in “Fringe” and later appeared on “Elementary” and “Sleepy Hollow”. He has further lent his voice to computer games and cartoons.

Comic legend Neal Adams and Walking Dead star at the VIECC

Everyone knows them: Batman, X-Men and Green Lantern – all of them written by a man who became a legend in the comic world: Neal Adams. He is also the artist behind Green Lantern, Green Arrow and the Avengers. The characters he has created have already well established themselves within the film and television industry. It is our great pleasure as Reed Exhibitions organizers to announce him as a further star guest at the VIECC Comic Con, where he will be available for photos, autographs and personalized drawings.

British actor David Morrissey alias The Governor from the popular series “The Walking Dead” will also mingle with fans and undead alike at the VIECC Vienna Comic Con. Best known as a serial villain from the hit series, he can currently be seen portraying Commander Aulus Plautus in the fantasy series “Britannia”. He has been able to prove his talents as a director and a scriptwriter as well – impressions and stories of which he will share at the Meet & Greet or an exclusive dinner. Of course, David Morrissey will also be on the big stage, signing autographs and showing off his best side in the photographs.

“It all started with the big bang”

John Ross Bowie aka Dr. Barry Kripke, the genius researcher with the speech impediment from the US series “The Big Bang Theory”, has long lisped his way into the hearts of the audience with his nasty pranks against Sheldon. TBBT fans can look forward to the great atmosphere he will see to at the VIECC Vienna Comic Con.

The American actor, stand-up comedian and musical talent became well-known through his role as Dr. Barry Kripke in the hit series The Big Bang Theory, where John Ross Bowie slips into the role of a genius with a speech impediment and quite a black sense of humor – rather unlike himself in real life. He has proven his versatile acting skills with appearances in several US television series and films, such as “Speechless” and “The Heat”. Following his passion, he doesn’t only make people laugh on TV, but also regularly preforms on stage as a stand-up comedian. He has even experienced the music business as front man of the pop-punk band “Egghead”.

Marvel shooting star in the author scene

Donny Cates will be joining the series of successful and gifted comic authors at the VIECC Vienna Comic Con. He is the creative mind behind Thanos, Doctor Strange, Damnation, God Country, Buzzkill, The Ghost Fleet, The Payback’s “Interceptor”, Star Trek and Atomahawk, among others. The Marvel comic writer is currently putting his latest ideas on paper, something he might tell his fans in Vienna more about.

Austrian premiere for absolute cosplay professional

The efforts of this year’s impressive squad of cosplayers certainly won’t go unnoticed either. For the first time in Austria, British cosplayer and gamer Tabitha Lyons alias Artyfakes will be coming to honor her fans. At the age of twelve, her passion sparked and she helped her father make props for Live Action Role Play (LARP). Today she is managing director of the paternal company and produces well beyond the cosplay genre for film, theater, TV, amusement parks and games. At the VIECC Vienna Comic Con she will be available for photos with her fans and share some valuable tips in her workshop.

Early practice makes perfect – Premiere for Cosplay Contest Kids

At the popular request of the community, there will be a separate Cosplay Contest for the little ones for the first time this year. Whether princess, firefighter or superhero – between the age of two and fifteen, everyone can join in and stand on the big stage for once.

Information, registration and tickets are available at www.viecc.com.
